Eleven years ago today, the world lost the truly talented Aaliyah Dana Haughton. With her “street but sweet” soprano, The Princess of R+B, along with Timbaland + Missy Elliott, helped redefine 90s R+B and hiphop soul. Only 22 at the time of her death, Aaliyah was gone FAR before her time.

As we take this journey to the past, we remember Aaliyah when she was hot like fire. She was more than a woman. At her best, she was love. In fact, she was one in a million. Aaliyah, we miss you.

My favorite Aaliyah single: “Are You That Somebody?” To this day, this song still gets me crunk like a mug.
